The University of Alberta and the Art Gallery of Alberta are pleased to once again collaborate in presenting an exhibition of drawings direct from the Department of Art & Design graduate studios. The exhibition will look at drawing and/in art and examine “line” from a number of points of view: disciplinary lines or boundaries, the “drawn” line, a line of text, lines in calligraphy or other forms of writing.
re-drawing the line, the third in a series of exhibitions, will build on the foundations of the past two shows, Here and Now and Visual Thinking, highlighting the innovation and diversity of contemporary drawing practices that are being explored in the various studio environments at the University. In addition to focusing on the idea of “line”, the exhibition will investigate drawing as a form of conceptualization and a site where visual thinking and problem solving take place.
