Window Dressing Media Advisory

Edmonton, AB - The Art Gallery of Alberta presents Window Dressing, an exhibition by Shane Krepakevich, on display from January 18 to March 24, 2008. This exhibition draws on the history and politics of department store window displays using the historic 102 Street windows of the former Bay department store (now Enterprise Square).

The exhibition addresses the heterogeneous mix of people shopping, working and begging downtown while providing ambient opportunities to reflect on the aesthetic and commercial implications of display. Window Dressing also compliments the Art Gallery of Alberta’s historic association with the building and its window displays. In 1943, The Bay featured works from the Art Gallery’s art education classes in its front windows to raise awareness about the gallery.

Krepakevich has exhibited at the WORKS gallery, the Profiles Gallery in St. Albert, The Apartment Show, and is currently part of the AGA’s exhibition small.
