The New Vision Capital Campaign is moving forward quickly, with significant contributions from both private donors and government. Despite having “the bar raised” due to increased building costs from Alberta’s overheated economy, this dedicated cabinet remains optimistic. The positive responses from the community and from government leaders has shown that the New Vision is truly shared by our community.

$10M Doubles Federal Contribution
The New Vision capital campaign reached a monumental milestone October 27/07 with the announcement of an additional $10 million in funding from Building Canada program for the AGA New Vision expansion. The Hon. Rona Ambrose, President of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of Western Economic Diversification, delivered the good news on behalf of the Hon. Lawrence Cannon to an enthusiastic audience of visitors and media at the AGA. Building Canada funding is a program of the Government of Canada’s Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities.
Edmonton Mayor Stephen Mandel, Laurie Hawn MP for Edmonton Centre, Mike Lake MP for Edmonton-Mill Woods-Beaumont, Hon. Gene Zwozdesky MLA for Edmonton-Millcreek, and Thomas Lukaszuk MLA for Edmonton-Castle Downs all attended the news conference, and spoke of the value for investing in major cultural facilities that preserve our heritage and build more vibrant communities.
